Stuff Heather Thinks is Super Great

Conan’s Craiglist postings. Do I even have to say why? (Because they are funny, that’s why. Mr. O’Brien, we will miss you! Until your next show.) Craigslist is no fun and yanked down one of the ads, but the second one is still up there!

“Fox 8,” George Saunders. I LOVE GEORGE SAUNDERS SO MUCH. This story is a new one, about a Fox who can speak “Yuman,” as he calls it, and his travails with aforementioned Yumans. Reminds me of Watership Down, only Saunderified.

Neil Patrick Harris is going to be on Glee, you guys. In the episode that Joss Whedon is directing. Dr Horrible and Top 40 musical numbers, all on one show? My head might explode.

Rachel’s recaps on the Prop 8 trial. Also, Judge Walker.  Here on Autostraddle.

On a related note, here is Lady Gaga at the HRC dinner. Rachel embedded this in one of her recaps and while it’s been awhile since I saw it, this almost brought me to tears. And you can ask my mom: I am not someone who cries at the movies.

“Thug Story,” Taylor Swift and T-Pain. Full confession: I really like Taylor Swift. She seems kindhearted and hilarious. And there are so many other reasons to dig this video! One: hip-hop parodies never fail [to bring out one’s inner nerd]. Two: T-Pain deserves props for making a career out of making fun of himself. Three: T-Pain’s necklace pendant (see above). Four: “I knit sweaters, yo!” Five: T-Pain even TALKS in AutoTune. Six: The bleeping.

K-OS, “I Wish I Knew Natalie Portman.” Recently, it appears, a trend has developed in hip-hop to mashup or otherwise sample Songs Heather Really Likes/Songs That Were Once Featured On The O.C., two categories that have proven thus far to be collapsible, and this new endeavor is just the latest. “I Wish I Knew Natalie Portman” –– which lyrically has nothing to do with Natalie Portman –– uses the O.C. theme as its melodic hook and spends half its music video alluding to Pulp Fiction. Plus, the dudes involved are called K-OS and Saukrates!
