Apparently in Michigan, HIV-positive citizens are practically terrorists. In DC, the Catholic archdiocese is threatening not to help the homeless if gay marriage is passed (which it did the other day). In Rhode Island, the state archbishop is refusing Communion to an anti-Stupak politician. (For non-Catholics who might be confused, you’re not supposed to take Communion unless you’ve gone to confession, because you have to be newly clean from sin when you take the body and blood of Jesus, which is what the wafer and wine are believed to become when the priest blesses them. So by refusing him communion, the Catholic Church of RI is denying Patrick Kennedy the opportunity to be free from sin and at one with God –– something that, obviously, contradicts the Church’s official stance.)
Not okay, America.
