In national news, at a press conference today Dick Cheney announced that, going against his party’s traditional stance, he believed in gay marriage (on a state-by-state basis, anyway). Cheney’s daughter is a lesbian but still the statement drew some surprise, as it came from a man best known for pulling the presidential strings and shooting his friend right in the face. At the conference, run by the National Press Club, Cheney said, “I think people ought to be free to enter into any kind of union they wish, any kind of arrangement they wish,” noting that “freedom means freedom for everyone.” The former vice president then killed the heartwarming feeling in the room as he went on to talk about how awesome Guantanamo is.
In human-interest news, I procured myself a job today. How exciting! Other things I did today were vacuum, shop at Trader Joe’s for the first time, and bake/decorate a cake to resemble Mr. Spock.
